Project Information:
The project pertains to the Structural Design of a 10-storey office building (with 6 undeground levels) on 3 Amerikis Str., in the center of Athens.
The building is constructed primarily of reinforced concrete. Our firm prepared the retaining walls design of the building following a Geotechnical Survey and Evaluation program. The final excavation level was at -24,50m.
The construction method applied included the use of steel piles, prestressed anchors and step by step excavation. Large hollow horizontal tube beams were also used to retain certain vertical slopes of the excavation. Before the construction of the basements, a foundation waterproofing system and a mat foundation were constructed.
During construction the Client demanded provisions for special loads due to the change of use of the building. Our firm modified accordingly the structural design and in addition incorporated the new at the time Greek Concrete and Seismic Regulations.
