Project Information:
The aim of Arachova’s Bypass is the construction of a motorway that will bypass Arachova’s settlement, and will facilitate the access to Delphi-Itea and to the ski resorts of Parnassos. The design principally aims to eliminate the unfavorable environmental impact of the traffic through Arachova’s center.
The bypass consists of a) the main tunnel (aprox. length: 1512,00m.) with a parallel escape tunnel of the same length b) the Eastern Interchange and c) the Western Interchange and Western At-grade Intersection.
The total length of the alignment is aprox. 3.6 km. The Eastern Interchange is located northeast of Arachova and connects the new motorway with existing National Road. The Western Interchange is located northwestern of Arachova and connects the Roads KO2 and KO3. The connection between the eastern and western accesses to Arachova is achieved with the 1.5km tunnel which bypasses the city in its north side.
The motorway typical cross-section is 11m. wide and consists of 2 lanes of 3,75m. and an emergency lane of 1,50m.
The adjacent road network was designed or redesigned to service the nearby properties.
