TRANSPORTATION DESIGN OF A SECTION IN TRIPOLI - VITINA - ANCIENT OLYMPIA MOTORWAY

Project Information:

The project pertains to the Transportation Design of the Louvro – Tripotamia– Iraia Junction Section and Stavrodromi Bypass Section of the Tripoli –Vitina- Ancient Olympia Motorway.

In the investigated section, the alignment moves along the north side of the Alfios River valley, passes over river Erymanthos and turns north-northeast towards the west side of Ladonas river valley keeping a significant distance from its riverbed. From Louvro till Erymanthos river the alignment runs along the valley of Alfios river. From river Erymanthos till the Tripotamia Junction, the alignment passes south of the Tripotamia and Kapelitsa settlements. Subsequently the alignment is developed along the west side of the valley of Ladonas river and moves in parallel to its riverbed.

For the purposes of the current assignment the following junctions were designed:

a. Aspra Spitia Junction Km 17+083: Connects the homonymous settlement with the existing Nat.Road Pyrgos – Tripoli.

b. Tripotamia Junction Km 20+320: Connects the Settlements of Tripotamia and Kapelitsa.

c. Irea Junction Km 25+500: Intersection connecting the Settlements situated east and west of river Ladonas securing the access to the alignment designed under the current assignment.

Το adjacent secondary road network was designed in such a way that it gives access to the bordering properties and with geometrical features for a design-velocity of 40Km/hr.

The proposed layout of this secondary road network was based on the alignment of the principal artery in such a way that the need for expropriations is minimized.
